LADY SHAUNTE' Biography Biography: Born in Oakland, California, and raised in the San Francisco bay area, Shaunte’ Garrett, AKA “Lady Shaunte’, moved to southern California in 2000 pursuing an acting career. Things weren't moving fast enough in L.A. so shortly after she moved to San Diego to live with her parents. Within three months of moving to San Diego, God began to open doors. She began to study broadcasting in college and soon thereafter met "The Preacherman" who gave her an opportunity in radio. She has worked for Soul Train (not as a dancer), MTV, and the Source Awards in their talent departments. Lady Shaunte’ has a Bachelor’s degree in Radio Broadcasting and has been nominated for awards including the “Horizon Award for the GMWA 2006 and the Newsome Award” in 2005. She won gospel announcer of the year at the 619 gospel music awards in 2005 which highlights San Diego artists. Also, she was a runner up for Dr. Bobby Jones’ gospel announcer of the year during his retreat in May 2006. Lady Shaunte’ is a youth mentor in her church and community where she emphasizes “right relationship with God through obedience.” She has a cosmetologist license and goes to children’s group homes in the community to cut and style children’s hair. Her hobbies and interests include reading, bible study, traveling, meeting new people, gospel entertainment, and of course music. She gives all honor and praise to God for everything He continues to do in her life. Lady Shaunte’ is a member of the New Creation church in San Diego, California where Rev. Reginald L.Gary is pastor. She is presently on the air daily as the midday host for the Soul of San Diego, KSON 1240am, (the only 24 hour gospel radio station in Southern California) since the birth of the radio station in 2004, in addition to that she is also the writer for the nationally syndicated Donnie McClurkin show and is a member of the So.Cal gospel announcers’ guild. Prior to coming to KSON, she was a gospel announcer with KPRZ/KCBQ in San Diego for their Sunday morning gospel mix. In addition, she has hosted a local weekly music television show called “Rhythms.” She loves radio and believes her calling is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the masses. She aspires to move back into the television realm to lift up the name of Jesus to anyone who watches.
